Vintage Beauty : How to Brush Your Hair

There really is an old fashion way of brushing your hair that many people no longer use or have even heard of. You may have heard of your grandmother or great grandmother giving their hair 100 strokes. What was the purpose? To stimulate the scalp but also helped to distribute the oil on your hair down the length of the hair. It helps your scalp regulate the amount of oil produced and in turn makes for healthier scalp and hair.

It's important to use a sturdy natural bristle hair brush. Synthetic just don't work the same. You can find some nice wooden boar's hair brushes on Amazon. Just simple wash with gentle soap periodically to keep clean. Below is a clipping from an old magazine. I believe it possibly came from Ladies Home Journal from mid to late 40s. I honestly can't remember where I found it.

Give it a try and see the benefits and wisdom of vintage beauty!
