Vintage Wilton Columbia, PA RWP Armitale Pewter Porringer Bowl 14 oz w/Handle

This vintage colonial style, 14 oz. pewter porringer, designed by the Wilton Company, has a beautiful patina and would make a lovely gift or addition to your kitchen.

Porringers originated in the medieval period of Europe and usually had two flat horizontal handles but Colonials generally have only one. In the early 19th century and before, pewter contained lead. To make a safer product, Wilton Co made Armetale which looks like antique pewter but is an aluminum-based alloy. Porringers were commonly used for a wide variety of food and drinks such as bread, soups, vegetables and milk.

This vintage porringer is in excellent vintage condition. See photos for details. Holds 14 oz per the stamp on the back of the handle and measures approx. 5" W by 1 3/4" D. If you include the handle in the width it is 6 3/4".  Additional stamps on the back of the bowl are RWP,  I,  C,  and Wilton-Columbia, PA  USA
